A framework for understanding and improving multisite evaluations

In the past decade, interest in multisite evaluation has grown, but there is still not a substantial literature on the issues involved in conducting evaluations in multiple sites. There are, however, a number of threads that readers may be interested in pursuing. The literature on clinical trials increasingly contains references to conducting multicenter clinical trials. Cluster evaluation is an approach to multisite evaluation that has been developed by the W. K. Kellogg Foundation for improving the evaluation of certain foundation initiatives.

A Guide to Evaluation Primers

This guide serves as an orientation guide and critical review of many of the most used evaluation primers available, such as those by the CDC, InnoNet, the Kellogg Foundation and NSF, to name a few. These primers are directed toward the non-expert, explaining some of the central issues in evaluation and why they are important. The Guide itself helps organizations to assess which evaluation primer might be most useful for their needs and what to expect, in terms of information, from each. Published 2004.

A License To Lead?: A New Leadership Agenda

This paper provides an analytical framework and comprehensive direction for reform to help policymakers design specific solutions to improve the recruitment, training, and retention of talented educational leaders. The author rejects as simplistic those reforms that expect ""celebrity"" non-traditional candidates to meet the need for more school leaders, but also makes clear that many current approaches are far from sufficient to meet the challenges at hand. This work was supported by the Broad Foundation.
